Carriers asking for OSS standard

Publié le par Jean Arnal

Until recently, carriers were used to develop in-house their own OSS solutions, fully dedicated for each network, and therefore non-interoperable. And outsourcing OSS, a reality for alternative service provider, is just taking off for incumbents. The news is coming from world’s biggest carriers that realized the cost of single-vendor, single network situation, and are now pushing for a new standard which can enable interoperability between OSSes. As a results, the TeleManagement Forum will issue in coming months a set of standards, known as Prosspero. Prosspero will allow the operators' BSS and OSS to support next-generation services, and become critical to the success of services like IPTV, which involves OSS, content, different networks and multi-vendor device elements.
