A few set of market information released this week:

  • EU will name and shame mobile operators who fail to adopt the new mobile roaming caps by the end of July.

  • According to In-Stat, Digital Rights Management (DRM) is not dead, and will grow as digital content expands.

  • Infonetics forecasts that the global mobile phone market was down 13% to $35.5bn in 1Q07, while unit shipments increased due to growth in developing countries. Revenues will continue to decline as the price of basic handsets continues to fall and competition in developed markets continues to increase. Infonetics expects worldwide revenue for mobile phones to total only $117. 5bn in 2010.

  • According to In-Stat, China would soon enter the mass adoption stage in the smartphone market. More than 10m units were shipped in China in 2006.

  • In-Stat forecasts that the CPE market would be fueled by home networks.

  • In-Stat forecasts a robust growth for the cellular base station market, driven by a booming subscriber base expected to grow to 3.1bn by 2011.

  • According to Idate, the number of 3G handsets would exceed 1.3bn units in 2010.
