A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to Ovum-RHK, mobile revenues in APAC, but excluding China, would grow at a CAGR of 2-3% to reach $167bn by 2012. Mobile capex would follow the same curve. But wireline revenues would lost $5bn in the next 5 years to $84bn in 2012. Wireline capex would decline 4-5%. In China, mobile revenues would grow about 16% per year to $123bn by 2012. Capex would grow 5% a year to reach $20bn.

  • Gartner found that the worldwide server market has grown 4.5% in 1Q07to $12.9bn, while in volume the market grew 6% to 2.1m units. HP remains the volume leader with 30% (+3), ahead of Dell with 21% (-0.6), IBM with 14% (-1), Fujitsu with below 4%. IBM leads the value market with almost 30%, HP is second with 28% and Dell third with just above 11%.

  • According to RIM, the mobile device maker and service provider will be moving rapidly into the Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) market.

  • Sprint Nextel said that WiMAX chipsets embedded in variety of devices, not just mobile phones; could give it the edge over LTE.

  • A new study of BroadGroup Tariff Services suggests that MVNOs will continue to grow with worldwide subscriber numbers more than doubling by 2012.

  • ABI Research is well in advance. It can forecast that by 2014 there would be 300,000 LTE Base Transceiver Stations installed.

  • Dell'Oro reports that the WCDMA-based mobility infrastructure market was flat in 1Q07, accounting for 16% of the total mobility infrastructure market.

  • In another report, Dell'Oro said that worldwide IP telephony carrier market declined sequentially in the first quarter of 2007, characteristic of seasonal softness, but continues double-digit year-over-year growth. Equipment sales for core trunk networks continues to climb.

  • ALU is ranked second in IP/MPLS in 1Q07. Both Synergy and Ovum-RHK gave the second place to ALU, respectively in the Services Edge Router market (22% market share) and in the IP/MPLS Edge Category with 20% market share.

  • According to Gartner, 2/3 of PDAs sold are using Windows Mobile.

  • Parks Associates forecasts that there would be 60m IPTV subscribers by 2011.

  • According to Analysys, China's TD-SCDMA equipment market reaches $960m in Q1.
