Subscriber figures - 05/04/07

MTN (S. Africa) had 40m mobile subscribers at the end of 2006, up 73%, of which 16m in the SEA region (+27%), 20m in the WECA region (+80%), 5m in the MENA region, including 8.4m users from Investcom (Africa and Middle East).

China Netcom had 115m fixed subscribers at the end of 2006, down from 119.4m in 08/06.

Europe: there are now 478.4m mobile users in Europe, of which 45m are 3G. 31.5m mobile subscribers have already used number portability. Mobile penetration passed 103%.

Polkomtel (Poland) reports 12.7m subscribers at the end of 1Q07.

MibilNil passed 10m mobile users in Egypt.

Argentina reports 33.2m mobile lines in service in the country at the end of February, up 42%, and 9m fixed lines in service.
