Market researches - 22/03/07

A few set of market information released this week:

• According to Gartner, worldwide PC sales would grow by 10.5% in 2007 and reach 256m units while revenues should only increase by 4.5% to $213bn.

• According to Ovum, ALU is the optical networking market leader with a 23% market share in 2006.

• According to ABI Research, Nokia remains leader of the smartphone market with over 56% share of the 71m units shipped in 2006. Motorola is second with 8.5% share.

• Analysys reports that 3G femtocells (indoor base stations) would drive fixed-mobile convergence, and represent the greatest opportunity, but critical implementation and performance issues still need to be resolved before they can be deployed widely.
