Iran telecom policy - 14/7/5

Iran has launched a $700m national fiber-optic network with connection with Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan and UAE. It will also link Iran to Pakistan, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Turkey in the future. The ambition is to become a regional communication hub. Early in this year, Iran signed a $132m contract with Russia for the launch of a telecom satellite for Iran.
