Samsung and LG announced plans to develop mobile phones that combine cellular and Wi-Fi technologies. They are partnering with Kineto for the UMA technology.

Motorola announced new R&D centers in Bangalore (India) and Taipei (Taiwan) and signed 3G development agreement with Freescale to develop a new platform solution for UMTS technologies for mass market products starting from 2008.

Pantech and Curitel are buying 60% of SK Teletech (Sth. Korea) for €234m.
