China Mobile reports the addition of 4.9m new mobile subscribers in January, bringing its total subscriber base to 306m.
China Telecom aded 250k new fixed subscribers in january, raising its total to 223.3m, of which 29.1m are broadband.
China had 368m fixed line subscribers (penetration of 28%), and 461.1m mobile users (penetration of 35.3%) at end-06.
Russia reports 152m mobile subscribers as of January 31, up 18%.
Algeria announced 21m mobile subcribers and a mobile penetration of 63%.
Pakistan has crossed the 50m mobile user mark at the end of January.
Brazil overview: Anatel reported 101m mobile lines (up 15%) were used at the end of January, 64% GSM, less than 26% CDMA and 10% TDMA. Vivo (Telefonica / PT) is the market leader with 29% market share of subscriptions, followed by TIM Brazil (TI) with 25.5%, Claro (America Movil) with 24% and Telemar with 13%.
