Mobile contracts - 15/02/07
LG has won contracts from about 12 mobile operators for supplying GSMA' s low-cost 3G handsets. Millions of units could be delivered.
Ericsson has been awarded managed services contract by Mobistar. The 5-year deal is worth $390m. It also has been awarded an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) contract by Swisscom. It will provide, in association with Valimo Wireless, Telefonica Moviles Espana with an end-to-end mobile signature service. It has been awarded prime integrator contract from Warid Telecom Bangladesh for planning, designing and integrating an in-building solution in 43 cities of Bangladesh. It will deliver a service delivery platform (SDP) to VIVO (Brazil).
Alcatel-Lucent and Cambridge Broadband will deliver a point-to-multipoint backhaul network to Maxis (Malaysia). Albertis Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent' s “Unlimited Mobile TV” solution for performing live DVB-SH broadcast mobile TV demonstrations at 3GSM. Alcatel-Lucent also announced that it is providing Vodafone Spain with an IP/MPLS core and edge network solution based on the 7750 Service Router, 7710 Service Router and 5620 Service Aware Manager.
Alcatel-Lucent has received two big contracts from India: one for 2m GSM lines, through ITI, from BSNL for network expansion, and another 2m GSM lines for MSNL. Vimpelcom has selected it for enhancing its radio network to EDGE. It will deploy GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA equipment in mobilkom Austria network.
SmartTrust has received an order from Hutchison 3G UK for an advanced dynamic roaming solution.
Huawei will supply StarHub (Singapore) with WCDMA/HSDPA gear. It said it has delivered more than 500k 3G phone to Vodafone since Sept. 06.
ZTE has received a new low-cost handset supply order from Vodafone for emerging countries.
Motorola has won a $50m order from Celtel Nigeria to expand its GSM network within the South East and South South regions of Nigeria.
Telit Wireless will supply Telefonica Espana with a turnkey M2M solution.
LogicaCMG will provide its Media Services Platform for IP applications to Optimus (Portugal)
