MNOs do not rely on search giants
The UK Telegraph reports that several large mobile operators are seeking collaboration on a mobile search engine of their own to bypass reliance on Yahoo, Google and others. FT, DT, Vodafone, Telefonica, TI, Cingular and Hutchison are expected to meet at 3GSM conference to debate the issue. MNOs are looking not to be out of the mobile search market and lucrative advertising revenues. Many of them, however, have already signed alliances with either Google or Yahoo. It seems it is a stand-by solution. The move is clever as either they can negotiate a better slice of advertising revenues from search giants, or they could use their own brands and share all ad mobile revenues.
