Follow up of Siemens/ BenQ deal

BenQ has bought loss-making Siemens mobile phone few weeks ago, and already the impact is evident. BenQ is realigning the suppliers for the mobile phone division of Siemens, with Lite-On Technology of Taiwan the first victim (it announced plan to end handset production). Another victim could be Infineon, the preferred chipmaker of Siemens. But BenQ has become also a direct competitor for Nokia instead of a manufacturing partner it was for several years. Nokia has immediately reacted and tries to switch its Taiwanese production to another local phone maker Quanta Computer.
