A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to Park Associates, annual shipments of mobile multimedia-capable devices (PCs, consumer electronics, ..) will increase from 2.5m units in 2006 to about 52m units by 2010.

  • In-Stat forecasts that WiMAX subscriber base would increase from 8000 in 2005 to over 3.5m by 2010 in China.

  • According to Point Topic, there were almost 3m IPTV subscribers in the world in June 06. PCCW (440k) and FT (300k) led the service providers group.

  • According to In-Stat, China's IPTV market would grow gradually from 240k users in 2005 to 6.3m by 2010.

  • In-Stat reports that almost 8% of US households (9m homes) now have at least one active VoIP user. Skype, Vonage,Time Warner and Microsoft continue to lead the market with respectively 2.1m, 1.7m, 1.6m and 1.1m households active.

  • Analysys reports that there were 10.9m unbundled local loops (ULL) in Western Europe at end-June 06, and that figure would grow to over 28m by 2010.

  • According to Informa, the mobile entertainment market will more than double over the next five years reaching $38bn in 2011.

  • Motorola predicts that 2007 will be the year of WiMAX
