Subscriber figures - 21/06/2005

China Mobile  announced it added 3.4m new subscribers in May to a total of 220.5m, of which 160m are prepaid users. China Unicom recorded 1.44m new users in May, of which 894k for its GSM system, to a total of 119.2m (of which 88.7m GSM users). China had about 359m mobile users in May and a mobile penetration of about 26%.

MTS (Russia) has 42.1m mobile users in Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
