According to Infonetics, the worldwide optical network hardware revenue grew 4% to $3.1bn in 3Q06, could rise 9% in 2006 and reach $11.8bn in 2009. Metro accounts for 65% and long-haul for 35% of the total market. NA generated 35% of worldwide sales, EMEA 33%, APAC 26% and CALA 6%. Alcatel maintained its leadership position, followed by Nortel, Huawei and Lucent. Tellabs holds the lead in 3Q06 worldwide SONET revenue, followed by Fujitsu, Lucent, and Nortel.
