Anticipating IEEE drafting (scheduled in 1H2008) on Wi-Fi 802.11n standard, Intel will embed Wi-Fi 802.11n into its Centrino chips in 2007. This will give Centrino-based PCs enhanced connection performance, but could either force IEEE and other vendors to follow, or raise a new interoperability concern in the future.

Broadcom is buying LVL7 Systems, a developer of networking software, for $62m in cash.

Sun, Nokia and Ericsson announced a new joint global cooperation to launch a Telecommunications Platform Initiative, in order to define requirements for a standardized, integrated telecom technology platform to simplify technology integration and increase efficiency.

Nortel is implementing a 1 for 10 share consolidation as announced few months ago. There are now some 433m Nortel shares. It has formed a joint venture with SECI, a SouthEast Europe company, to gain a foothold in SouthEast European markets.
