Bluetooth is not dead: some 5m Bluetooth units are shipped each week, according to the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. In 2004, more than 250m Bluetooth units were shipped worldwide. For the future, Bluetooth SIG is planning to work with UWB to develop a mixed solution: Bluetooth low-speed applications and UWB for higher-bandwidth applications.
