FCC could apparently recomment the approval of AT&T's $67bn purchase of BellSouth.

Equity firms, Apax and TPG, have announced that TIM Hellas (Greece) is up for sale for about €4bn.Naguib Sawiris, Orascom Telecom CEO, has announced it will bid.

FT, DoCoMo and Verizon are given as potential buyers in China Telecom, but any move would be made until 3G licenses are issued in China.

Telecom Italia confirms that it will separate the fixed-line and wireless businesses into two separate companies, but will not sell any assets.

Unions at Portugal Telecom have opted to support Sonaecom's takeover bid rather than backing the restructuring plan of PT.
