China Telecom is now teaming with Microsoft to launch search services in China from October. In August, China Telecom had called off its partnership with Yahoo in search services.

MTV Networks plans to buy Harmonix Systems, a music themed video games maker, for $170m in cash.

China has successfully built the core network, called CNGI-CERNET2/6IX, of its next generation Internet, using IPv6 protocol instead of IPv4.The China Education and Research Network should have already networked 167 buildings in 25 universities in 20 cities across the country in IPv6.

Mexico' s state owned electric utility CFE could receive soon a consession to lease capacity on its fiber optic network. CFE has nearly 14,000 km of fiber optic cable that runs along parts of its power transmission network.

Entel (Chile) has launched WiMAX services, helped by Intel. The network covers 14 cities and initially has 22 base stations.

NTL (UK) is now offering quad-play services offering digital television, mobile, Internet and fixed-line phone services for about €60/mo.
