China Telecom announced 1H06 net profit of $1.8bn, down 4%, on sales of $10.9bn, up 3.5%.

MTN (S. Africa) posts 1H06 net earnings rising 27.5% to 278.5 cents a share, or $763m, on sales up 18% to $2.86bn.
