A few set of market information released this week:

• Mobile WiMAX could exceed fixed WiMAX soon. Fixed WiMAX sales would hit the peak in 2007 before giving way to mobile WiMAX in 2008.

• According to In-Stat, China has 20% of urban households equipped with a home network.

• According to In-Stat, HDTV penetration is rapidly rising. More than 20m households are expected to be HDTV-ready at the end of the year, and over 55m by the end of 2009. US and Japan account for 91% of all worldwide HDTV households.

• According to Dell'Oro, the sale of media gateways and soft switches for the telecom industry is likely to double from $2.5bn in 2005 to $5bn in 2010.

• Analysys forecasts that 11% to 17% of Western European homes are projected to subscribe to triple play packages by 2011 (from 3% at the end of 2005)

• Synergy Research has published a new report on the Carrier Ethernet market. The worldwide Carrier Ethernet market increased over 100% yoy and over 25% qoq. Cisco, Alcatel and Juniper are ranked respectively 1,2, and 3 supplier in the market.

• GSMA said there were 150m mobile phone users in Africa in May, and 1m are being added every week,

• Infonetics Research forecasts that revenue generated from mobile video services around the world is set to grow to $5.6bn in 2009 (from $46m in 2005). The number of mobile video handsets sold worldwide is expected to grow from 28m in 2005 to 336m in 2009.

• According to MDA, a total of 12m people (about 20% of all mobile users) have used their mobile phone to access the internet in the UK during June 2006.

• ABI Research forecasts that fixed and mobile network operators will invest a total of $4bn in service delivery platform (SDP) capital infrastructure over the next five years, and generate about $50bn in revenues from IMS-enabled applications in 2011.
