IBM Europe  could close its EMEA headquarters in Paris.

Nitendo (Japan)is building a 1,000-hotspot national WiFi network in Japan to offer free access to Nintendo DS gamers.

ADC bought OpenCell, a manufacturer of digital fiber-fed Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and shared multi-access radio frequency (RF) network equipment.

Fixed networks:

Fujitsu announced a strategic partnership agreement with Terawave Communications to develop and bring to market GPON access solutions.

Mobile networks:

Ericsson has demonstrated, with Teliasonera, 2.4Mbit/s throughput in a live indoor WCDMA network.

While RIM continues to gain market share with its Blackberry devices (about 24% of PDAs with 3m units sold and up 50% in 6 months), Microsoft is launching Magneto, the 3rd major release of its WM OS, which the company presents as a blackberry killer.

Siemens will rollout low-price mobile phones priced at about $30 in June.

Nokia will make the air interface specifications of the Nokia mobile TV solution publicly available.
