WiMAX for developing countries

While the technology can be adopted everywhere, analysts said the developing countries should be its main market. The rationale behind is that countries without current fixed broadband infrastructure (cable or DSL or fiber), should also find mobile broadband (3G and HSDPA) too expensive. But broadband is in demand for data applications, so WiMAX should be the ideal solution for underserved areas. Many technologies are competing in developed countries, so WiMAX should not be rolled out there in mass, even if some niche markets exist (backhauling as an example).
