According to RNCOS, the GSM mobile market in Latin America grew by 21% in 2005, and is accelerating with 41% growth rate in 1Q06.It forecasts that growth rate should be 52% this year, a figure close to 3G Americas association' s evaluation of 50%, that would bring GSM LATAM subscriber base to 180m this year. GSM accounts for 56% of the region' s mobile users in 1Q06.
