Huawei is to provide networking equipment (cellular, fixed and optics) to HFCL Infotel in India under a $70m contract. It will supply Lanka Bell (Sri Lanka) with a $40m CDMA-based WLL network. Viatel ordered a NG optical platform for a new pan-European network between the UK (7 nodes), Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

 

Italtel and Cisco were selected to supply a VOIP network to Albacom (Italy).

 

Siemens will supply VALOR Telecom (USA) with DSL gear under a multi-year agreement, and will provide COLT with a VOIP network.

 

Avaya has signed a £80m worth deal over three years with BT.

 

Lucent wins Industry Telephone (TX, US) order for Lucent Compact Switch and professional services. It also received $36m order from the United States Department of the Army to provide network upgrades.

 

ZTE signed a $208m deal with Atlas Interactive (India) to provide 500,000 broadband lines.

 

Marconi got an order from TEAG Netkom (Germany) to deliver its OMS840 multiservice edge platform to launch new Ethernet services over SDH.

 

SkyStream will deploy its Mediaplex-20(TM) video headend to support a nationwide rollout of IP-based broadcast television in Japan for NTT’s OnDemandTV.

 

Cirpak (France) is delivering its class5 softswitch for Altitude Telecom (France) to launch telephony services over WiMAX.

 

Tecom (Taiwan) has won the bid to supply an additional 180,000 ADSL access points for Chunghwa Telecom, and could secure another order for 350,000 ADSL lines by the end of the month.

 

Nortel is deploying an e-government IP telephony and data solution for the city of Longkou (China/ Shandong).

 

Alcatel won a VOIP QOS order from Tiscali UK.

 

SeaChange’s on-demand systems and software will be deployed in Mexico by Cablevision.
