BCE (Canada) reports better-than-expected 1Q06 results. Revenues rose 2% to $4.1bn and EPS rose 2% to 45 cents.

SingTel (Singapore) announced better-than-expected earnings at $1bn for the quarter (underlying earnings were at $610m, up 14%) and $2.6bn for the year. Full-year revenues were at $8bn, up 4%.

Telenor (Norway) posted $550m in 1Q06 net profit (up 100%), on reported sales of $3.3bn, up 43%. EBITDA rose 56% to $1.2bn.

Pannon (Hungary) reports 1Q06 EBIT rising 26% to €44m, on revenues of €180m (up 7%).

Rostelecom (Russia) said its 1Q06 net profit fell 15% to $75.7m, on revenues of $573m, up 53%. But Rostelecom did not manage its costs properly (up 92%).

VIVO (Brazil) announced a 1Q06 net loss of $84.5m (vs profit of $20m, on revenues of $1.2bn, flat. EBITDA was down 27% to $338m.

Telecom Italia is expected to report 1Q06 net profit of €711m, up 8%, on revenues of €7.4bn, up 6%. EBITDA should be almost flat at €3.3bn.
