ATT reports strong 1Q06 results. Net income was $1,45bn on sales of $15.8bn. It was the first reported period with combined results from SBC and ATT. The traditional wireline business reported sales of $14.7bn, down 5.5%, and the company lost 3m fixed lines, or 6% of its total lines. ATT added 511k broadband digital subscribers to reach a total of 7.4m. ATT data revenues were up 3% to $4.4bn. Wireline voice revenues totaled $8.7bn, down 9%. Cingular (mobile services) reported revenues of $9bn, up 9% and added 1.7m mobile users to bring its subscriber base to 55.8m. ATT is accelerating the process to incorporate Bellsouth before the end of the year in order to get full control of Cingular before the end of the fiscal year.
