Indonesia: new ICT infrastructure
Indonesia is starting two major projects to improve its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure -- Universal Service Obligations (USO) Program and National Fiber Optic Backbone (NFOB) Project. With the first USO program, it hopes to provide telephone access for all 67,000 villages in Indonesia by the year 2010. With the NFOB program, it targets the installation of the fiber optical network from 2008 to 2020, after a preliminary study in 2006 and a roadmap design and master plan in 2006-2007.
