Motorola is considering buying Siemens' telecom equipment business, as a way to get the profit-bearing Mobile Network division of Com. It bought Orthogon Systems (Piping Hot Networks) to extend its broadband wireless reach. Motorola was already a distributor of Orthogon products through its Canopy business since 2004.

Amdocs is buying content download system vendor Qpass for $275m.

Huawei plans to set up a training center in Portugal by the end of the year.

Widevine Technologies attracted a $16m investments from a group of investors including Cisco and Telus.

Oracle bought Net4Call, a provider service delivery components for the telecoms industry, its third acquisition in the quarter.
