A few set of market information released this week:

  • The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) infrastructure and software market could  reach $ 5.5bn by 2007, according to Venture Development (VDC).
  • According to Dttberner, the Revenue Assurance market could grow to $ 430m in 2008, from $ 400m in 2004.
  • HDTV reached 10m households worldwide, and would grow to 15.5m by the end of this year, according to InStat-MDR.
  •  Spending on mobile virus protection could grow to $12bn by 2007 from $720 in 2004.
  • In-Stat reports that the multiservice switch market rebounded in 2004 with sales of $2.3bn, up 9%, and could grow 7% in 2005, and 6% over the next five years.
  • According to Research & Markets, the fixed wireless markets (WiMAX, WLAN and WiFi) reach $ 2.4bn in 2004, and could grow to $ 12.4bn by 2010.
  • Research & Markets assessed the worldwide telecommunications equipment market to be $ 197bn in 2005 and could reach $ 447bn by 2010.
  • IDC forecast 142.6m 3G subscribers in Asia (excluding Japan) by 2009, from 10.2m at the end of 2004.
  • Input said spending in state and local IT operations is expected to grow from $48bn in 2005 to $70bn in 2010. Main driver to the growth could be the need for outsourced technical services, primarily caused by increased employee retirements.
  • The data storage market will grow by 35% in 2005, according to Info-Tech Research.
