Market researches - 05/04/06

A few set of market information released this week:

• According to IDC, HP’ s ProCurve Networking solutions should held about 18% market share in EMEA, with more than 44% in Finland, more than 20% in France, Netherlands and Sweden.

• According to Senza Fili Consulting, there would be 15m WiMAX subscribers by 2010, and related revenues should be about $16.5bn.

• TelecomView' s new report says WiMAX services would generate $53bn mobile revenues in 2011, and over $65bn in mobile capex during the five years time frame.

• In-Stat forecasts that Wi-Fi assets tags will be increasingly utilized in location tracking applications, and would be almost 2m shipments in 2010.

• In-Stat is assessing the DVD player and recorder worldwide market to be 141m units in 2005 and 177m units by 2010.In 2006, Europe should be the largest market with some 38.4m units sold.

• Telecom Trends International forecasts that the number of mobile handset units shipped in 2012 should reach 1.7bn, almost double the 2005 figure.

• IDC announced that the US internet video market should grow to $1.7bn in revenues in 2010, up 13% on 2005 figures.

• Siemens announced the result of a survey saying that about 20% of early adopters would likely junk their cable or satellite TV subscription if their phone company offered IPTV service.
