World Mobile Subscriber Base
There are now more than 2.2bn mobile subscribers in the world, and it is expected that this number would grow to 3bn by 2010. GSM currently accounts for about 1.8bn and CDMA for about 0.4bn users. There are currently 860 networks in 220 countries delivering mobile services. 58% of mobile users are in developing countries. The mobile sector is expected to grow at a 7% CAGR over the next decade, and to generate over $530bn in service revenue and about $80m in handset revenues by 2010.
