comScore M:Metrics found that mobile searching is gaining in popularity and frequency of use in Western countries, with penetration reaching over 9% in both the UK and USA.

According to ABI Research, carrier spending on RAN networks (radio-access) would grow 3.4% in 2008 to $54bn. The number of base stations to grow from 3.6m in 2007 to 5.2m in 2013. Ericsson leads the pack with 29% market share followed by NSN with 23% and ALU with 13%.

According to Gartner, the global telecom market is on track to reach $2 trillion in 2008, up 7.6%, of which $1.6bn in telecom services. Gartner forecasts that the telecom service segment would grow at a CAGR of 4.4%, when the telecom equipment segment would grow at a CAGR of 8.7%.
