Lucent finally won control of Riverstone for $207m, in spite of Ericsson attempt to win the deal. The agreement was approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

mPhase and some partners, including SkyStream, Latens, Entone and Triveni Digital, have unveiled a kit for telcos wanting to start IPTV service with low profile. With IPTV in a Box, the pieces are all pre-integrated, allowing overnight deployment, and costing about $750 per end user for a 1000 end-user system.

Nortel is partnering with Minerva for IPTV. They will integrate Nortel' s SIP and IMS capabilities with Minerva middleware products.

NEC considers spinning off ISP operations, called Biglobe, and is in talks with Sumitomo.

Alcatel announced availability of the Alcatel 7710 Service Router, a compact, optimized service routing platform with a throughput of 12 Gbit/s.
