Qualcomm is joining forces with China TechFaith Wireless to fund a new mobile software company, called TechFaith Software China, that will focus on advancing 3G services.
Qualcomm will also partner with UTStarcom to develop the Qualcomm Deployable Base Station, designed to deliver mobile communications capabilities for emergency, first response and defense applications.
Nokia predicts the end of cameras, video cameras and walkmans for the benefit of mobile phones. Already in 2005, Nokia was the first manufacturer of cameras in the world with 100m units produced.
