A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to In-Stat, worldwide online music sales could grow from $1.5m in 2005 to $10.7m in 2010. iTunes is the most popular site used for online music purchases with a 53% market share.

  • Pioneer Consulting estimates that WiMAX could likely establish market share in the short-term, stimulate 3G market, but will not become the dominant mobile technology for the foreseeable future.

  • Small and medium businesses (SMBs) are adopting IP Telephony (IPT), according to InfoTech. Demand for IPT solutions has seen a 36% increase in station shipments to SMBs, while traditional key systems shipments dropped by 17%.

  • Standardization of faster Wi-Fi technology (known as 802.11n standard) moved forward as the IEEE group working voted in favor of the standard’s first draft proposal. Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output technology (MIMO) has been adopted as the foundation for the IEEE' s 802.11n standard. Certified 802.11n products are expected to be available by 3Q07.

  • SR Telecom believes Mexico will be one of the top 10 countries in the world for WiMAX sales in 2006.

  • According to Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Ericsson leads the WCDMA infra market with 33%, followed by Nokia and Siemens/NEC with 22% and 19% respectively.
