RIM' share was surging after the company agreed to pay $612m in settlement of patent dispute with NTP. RIM is now able to continue its BlackBerry-related wireless business.

Samsung introduced the first mobile phone with a built-in 8Go hard disk, and unveiled a 10 megapixel camera phone at the CeBIT 2006.

Sagem unveiled its new 3G/UMTS myW-7 mobile handset.

BenQ will pre-install Google search software on its handsets.

Motorola plans to expand production capacity at its Jaguariuna plant in Brazil by 40%. It has to face a technical shortfall with its Razr handset, due to a component glitch. Cingular and T-Mobile USA halted retail sales of the Razr model.

Qualcomm announced it will charge royalties on TD-SCDMA products as well.
