US telecom market

TIA reported that the US telecom market grew 8% in 2004 to $ 784m, and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.5% for the next four years to reach $ 1.1 tr by 2008. "The year 2004 was a turnaround for the industry overall," says Matthew Flanigan, president of TIA. "It marks the first time in four years that equipment sales rose in the U.S.". Total equipment spending is projected to grow 6.8% this year to $105bn. US telecom transport services spending rose 3.4% to $299bn; internet access services spending increased 12.5%; and wireless services spending reached $ 102bn, up 14.6%. In comparison, international telecom services spending grew 10% to $1.4tr, growing faster than the US market.
