A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to In-Stat, the emerging WiMAX chipset market will be driven primarily by embedded Mobile WiMAX in mobile PCs through 2012, with the WiMAX user terminal chipset market reaching $500m (from $27m in 2007).

  • A new In-Stat report says that digital cable subscribers in China will reach 100m in 2012, with a STB market peaking at $766m in 2011.

  • According to Juniper Research, there would be 80m mobile WiMAX subscribers by 2013. In addition, Juniper predicts the mobile WiMAX market will exceed $23bn per year by 2013.

  • Telematics Research Group found that mobile phones would dominate the navigation market, with about 500m units in 2015 vs 20m in 2007. Mobile phones will begin outselling standalone devices in 2009.

  • The femtocell infrastructure market would reach about $1bn in 2012, up from zero in 2007, according to iSupply.

  • ABI Research forecasts that more than 419m chipsets using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, and 300m NFC handsets will ship in 2012.

  • In-Stat founds that more than 11m IP lines were shipped in 1H07, accounting over 80% of total shipments.

  • In-Stat reports that base station chip revenues are slowly decreasing over the next several years.

  • According to F&S, the Brazilian telecom services market was worth over $58bn in 2006 and could reach $74bn in 2012.

  • Mobile music revenues would be about $18bn by 2012, according to Juniper Research.

  • According to AdaptiveMobile, aggressive mobile advertising could generate additional churn.

  • Maravedis forecasts that Russia is among the world's top five Wireless Broadband opportunities.

  • Infonetics reports 90-100% increases in Ethernet traffic in 2006 and in 2007, and 70%-80% for IP/MPLS traffic with top applications driving data traffic include broadband, metro Ethernet services, VoIP, and IPTV.

  • 43bn messages (+30%) were sent globally on New Years Eve.

  • EJL Wireless Research announces that Huawei held 34% of total base stations contracts in 4Q07.

  • According to In-Stat, over 11m IP lines were shipped worldwide, accounting for 80% of total shipments.
