India has just 72 million mobile-phone subscribers.

Vodacom (S. Africa) said it had 17.5m subscribers by the end of 2005.

China had 746m phone users at end of 2005, this could grow to 820m+ in 2006.

Orange (France) unveiled its UMTS/ EDGE customer base of 1m+.

Oracom (Egypt) announced that its subscriber base exceeded the 30m mark in seven countries.

CANTV (Venezuela) has surpassed 250,000 users for its broadband service in 2005.
