Alcatel/ Microsoft dominating the IPTV market is a fact, but very few operators believe the game is over. Some operator' s reactions let think that the door is still open in the future for new opportunities (except perhaps for SBC which has a contract with Microsoft for some time). Siemens intends to play a key role in this market, backed by the recent acquisition of Myrio, an IPTV middleware maker. And some contacts have already been grabbed (Belgacom, Shanghai Telecom, ..). 2006, however, will be a revealing year in telco TV, to evaluate the best solutions, the ability to scale properly (the weakest point today) and generate real revenues.
