Quaero, European search engine

Quaero (“search” in Latin) is the new multimedia European search engine to be launch in coming months. The project was announced in April.05'; goals and Board members will be announced in Jan.06'; and commitment made by March06'. Quaero' s target is clearly to compete with the likes of Microsoft MSN, Yahoo and Google. Founders include Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, Thomson, Inria, Inra, RWTH-AAchen, University of Karlruhe, and many others. The search engine would be based on latest sophisticated technologies in transcription, indexation and automatic translation of multilingual audio/ video files.
