BSSR: broadband service switch router

This new acronym encompasses aggregation switching, edge routing, and B-RAS functions. All are positioned at the edge network and are needed to match with future growth of broadband data (IPTV, VOD,.VOIP, ..), and features (resource optimization and management, multiple access technologies, ..), and with QoS requirements. So vendors should be wise to adapt their products to the new look of access networks and to BSSR architecture.
