Let me try to sum up:

    • Broadband penetration will continue to snowball in the US,

    • More legacy rules and regulations on Internet based applications in the US,

    • Baby Bells, incumbents and mobile operators will try to build implicit cartels ("Walled Gardens" ),

    • The FCC will attempt to extend its definition of indecency laws to the Internet, Cable and Satellite networks,

    • 2006 will be the year when filmmakers are going direct to the Net, when TV premiere is first on the Internet, when TV shows are downloadable for viewing on personal communication devices,

    • VoIP peering will continue to happen between carriers, but the business models driving peering will not be worked out until 2007 or beyond.

    • Two major, billion-dollar-plus, acquisitions,

    • Internet and IP-based communications seen as the vehicle to improve emergency response and post-catastrophe communications,

    • the Communications world will be divided into Internet Access Providers and Internet Application Providers.

    • more VOIP regulation

    • Voice to be part of the eCommerce strategy for many Websites,

    • Mobile/ fixed substitution will continue at a faster pace

    • ENUM continues to happen around the world and the US will still lag behind,

  • The RIM (Research in Motion) patent challenge will become a boon for integrated IP Communication enabled devices.
