Huawei expects its 2005 Russian sales would grow to $310m, up 18%.

Alcatel targets to go back outside telecoms. Its CEO said it is interested to agree with Thales, a defense contractor. The past 10-year strategy was focused on streamlining the conglomerate (made of telecom, engineering, cables, electromechanics, defense, ,,,) into a telecom-only firm, but the telecom downturn showed how dependent the group was on a single market. Alcatel is expected to bid €7,5bn for Thales.
