Ericsson has upgraded 3 Scandinavia network with enhanced mobile broadband services at up to 7.2Mbit/s. It has bee awarded two contracts for hosted multimedia services: a ringback tones service and content downloads, by CellularOne (Dobson group) in the US. It signed a turnkey contract with Vodafone Netherlands to deploy its Automatic Data Retention Solution (ADRS).
Samsung will deliver eight W-CDMA phone models to SK Telecom for the end of the year.
Kyocera (Japan) is in the final round of talks to acquire (for about $430m) the mobile phone unit of Sanyo Electric.
LG has sold over 3.4m LG Chocolate handsets in the US with Verizon Wireless.
Huawei has won a $150 order from Bharti Airtel Lanka (Sri Lanka) for building and managing GSM infrastructure over the next three years, as well as deploying 3G network solutions. It also won a contract from Orange Poland (Centertel) for a UMTS/ HSDPA network.
RFS is supplying RF technology on a massive scale to Mexico's Iusacell for CDMA network expansion.
