Siemens targets becoming Ericsson' s challenger in mobile core networks, overtaking Nokia, in the next two to three years. With this goal in mind, it has formed two partnerships in key Asian markets in an effort to improve its position in the market for wireless networks worldwide. One with equipment supplier Poson (China) and another with IDA (Infocomm Development Authority in Singapore). Currently Siemens is third with 7%, behind Nokia with 14% and Ericsson with 27%.

Symbian announced 131% growth in shipments of Symbian OS phones to 8,5m units in 3Q05. Symbian OS worldwide installed base reaches almost 48m phones.
