Telefonica has reached a Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA) with China Netcom, to be effective after Telefonica buys additional stake in Netcom bringing its stake to about 10%.

Telstra said that it would merge its mobile unit CSL (HK) with the operations of New World Mobile (HK).

Apparently three candidates are submitting a bid for TDC (Denmark): two groups of private-equity funds (one is led by Apex Partners) and Swisscom are expected to bid for about $12bn,
