Calix announced that it will acquire Optical Solutions, an industry leader in gigabit passive optical network (GPON). Both are respectively leading the broadband loop carrier (BLC) shipments and FTTP GPON deployments.

Nortel launched an end-to-end IPTV solution from a variety of best-in-class vendors: IPTV middleware from Minerva Networks and Orca Interactive; video-on-demand (VoD) from Kasenna and BitBand; content security solutions from Irdeto; encoders from Harmonic and Optibase; a Web browser interface from Espial; digital program insertion (DPI) from Terayon; an emergency alert system (EAS) from Trilithic; xDSL modems from Westell; and set-top boxes from Amino.

Samsung America unveiled a new CDMA core network solution including softswitch, media gateway and core network to be available in Q1 2006.

Alcatel is partnering with Syndesis on triple play management, with Cramer and with Micromuse for IPTV BSS/OSS solution.
