NTT (Japan) reported FY 1H (March- Sept.) net profit of $2,8bn (-4%), on revenues of $44,4bn, down 1,7%. VOIP and cheaper services have hit NTT' s earnings in both fixed lines and mobile operations.

BT posted 3Q05 revenues of €7,1bn, up 5%); pre-tax profit of €724m, up 7% without exceptional items, and net income of €549m, down 14%. Its CEO attributed the revenue growth to the rise in “new wave” revenues, accounting for 30% of revenue, up from 22%, with broadband services accounting alone for 18% of revenues. IT services revenues grew 16% to €3,1bn.

Softbank (Japan) announced 3Q05 revenues of €2bn, up 69%, and net income of €52m, down 41%. For the first six months (March-Sept.), Softbank reported net loss of €31m, vs €45m last year. The company also announced a 3-for-1 stock split for shareholders as of Jan06.

Swisscom Q3 net profit was €344m, up 39%, on sales of €1,54bn, down 6%. Hit by price cuts and aggressive competition, mobile revenues were down, as well as fixed lines revenues.

Globe Telecom (Philippines) unveiled 3Q05 results: revenues of €217m, up 8% and net profit of €33m, up 3%.

Optus (Australia) announced net profit of $150m , down 8%, on revenues of $1,76bn (flat).

Telefonica reports 9-month revenues of €27,4bn, up 24%; OIBDA up 20% to €10,9bn, and free cash flow rose 13% to €7.6bn. Capex increased 38% to €3.3bn driven primarily by investment in broadband and mobile. Cellular unit recorded revenues of €12bn, up 42%; OIBDA amounted to €4,2bn, contributing 39% of total OIBDA and up 19%. Telefonica managed a total of 147.7m accesses, of which 89m mobile, 4,4m broadband ADSL lines.

Telus (Canada) posted 3Q05 revenues of $1,4bn, up 6%, EBITDA of $571m, up 3% and net income of $129m, up 21%.

Tiscali (Italy) reports 3Q05 net loss of €16m (vs €25m last year), EBITDA of €32m (up 25%) and revenues rising 16% to €186m.
