Fixed vendor strategies - 9/10/05

Tellabs is looking at the soon-to-come GPON market. By adding GPON blades to its existing edge (Tellabs 8800) or access (AFC 1000 Series) routers, Tellabs wants to create a new type of box mixing flow-based QOS with GPON. The move is not really original, but can be considered in the perspective of the imminent request for proposal (RFP) from the three U.S. RBOCs. Many vendors are trying to position themselves in the market.
